SS-1 is the first Soviet ballistic missile system similar to the German
V2 in many ways. It uses ethyl alcohol as propellant and and liquid
oxygene as oxidizer. The first Russian launch of a V-2 from Kapustin Yar
was made on 18 October 1947 and the first test flight took place on 10
October 1948. |
